Welcome to Verpets!
Verpets is a reimagination of the original Verpets and rebuilt from the ground up to try and bring back the old feeling of Verpets, but with a modern twist. Here, you can find, feed, fight, play with, take fishing, take mining, give perfectly safe potions to, and more with your pets! Restock some shops, or hit the fishing hole for some relaxing activity, we should have something for all new and returning players to enjoy!
Please keep in mind that we are still in ALPHA and there are still many features to be added, and many bugs to be worked out. If you encounter any issues, please report them in our Bug Reports boards so we can get them fixed! Thank you all for your time and support!
Whittling Bench!
We have a fun update for you all tonight, there is finally a new way to create Carvings! This was a gap that has needed closing for a while, we could always make Gemstones, but never the Carvings we actually wanted.
First up is the Whittling Bench. This is where you carve Petrified Wood into Carvings, slot your Chisels, and hope for the best! Each Carving has its own base odds of succeeding, and a better Chisel both raises those odds, and typically has more uses. A carving takes an hour at the bench (subject to change). If it splits on you, you get Wood Shavings back instead, one pile for every Petrified Wood you put in.
Two important things about Chisels. You can only have one Chisel slotted at a time, and if you slot a new one while the old one still has uses left, the old one WILL be destroyed, so use the cheap ones up first. You also cannot unslot a Chisel, because who the heck wants to buy a used Chisel?! You can pick up a Crude Chisel from the Trembling Prospectors as needed, and every tier of Chisel sits in the reward pool for Carver's Commissions.
You might be wondering, how the heck do I get Petrified Wood? It is quite rare at the moment and can still be found while Mining, but we are introducing some new ways to get your hands on it. Mining now also turns up a debris called Gemstone Dust, and 25 Pine Logs together with 10 Gemstone Dust will petrify into a single Petrified Wood in the Smelter. Pine Logs are grown from Pine Tree Seeds in a soil Garden, and those seeds are one of the rewards from Carver's Commissions, as well as findable in the Forest. Pines take their time to grow (about three days). Fishing treasure chests now have a chance of Petrified Wood as well. We are hoping all of these together make Carvings easier to reach, while still being a fun goal to work towards.
This also lets us do cool custom Chisels later on that can only carve certain pet species, which we know you will love!
There has been a fair amount of code changed across the site to make all of this work, so if any bugs pop up please report them as soon as possible so we can squash them ASAP!
